Not sure which end is up… but we’re in Texas!

We made it to Texas! The past 7 days have been an utter whirlwind. Mia graduated from high school in Kijabe less than a week ago, we said lots of “see ya laters” to her friends who are now scattered across the globe, said goodbyes to our friends, neighbors, and coworkers (the photo above is of one last meal with our friends Gideon and Rose), packed up our apartment for a year and jumped on a plane the next day…  and now we are trying to adjust to life in America.

We landed mid-morning last Saturday and were at my mother’s bedside by that afternoon. It was an emotional reunion for all of us, especially because we weren’t sure we would make it back in time to see her. She has seemed to rally and has started eating again although she is still bedridden and not really able to communicate. We have received the sweetest messages from people telling us how much Ramona has impacted them. It’s been a really special time to be together.

What an overwhelming blessing it was to arrive back to our home being set up perfectly by a sacrificial team of people from our church! It’s hard to explain the depth of gratitude we felt when we walked in. It was like a giant weight being lifted off. So thankful! Thank you to all of you who helped make this possible for us.

Shane’s parents arrive tomorrow for a short visit and Mia’s graduation party is this weekend. We’d really love to see any of you who are able to come. It will be a great way for us to catch up with some of you in these first weeks back!
